  • Why is donating blood important?
Blood cancer interferes with the production of cells and platelets in the bone marrow. While treatment can eradicate cancer cells in the marrow, they can also harm healthy cells as well. Blood donated by donors can help replenish cells, platelets and other blood components to help keep children healthy and thriving during treatment.
  • Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, all donors would need to follow the registration process through the link above in order to schedule an appointment time. Appointment times are available Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 8am until 1pm.
  • Can I walk-in or show up without an appointment?
No. In order to give our donors a unique blood donating experience, we will not be accommodating or accepting walk-ins.
  • How do I know if I qualify to donate blood?
Click the link below to learn more about the qualifications of donating blood. View Qualifications
  • Is it okay if I don't know my blood type?
Yes. Perhaps after the blood donation process you may call the CHLA Blood Donor Center after 3 days to find out your blood type.
  • What should I eat before I donate blood?
Please hydrate yourself and have a hearty meal prior to donating.
  • Where is the blood drive located?
Blood Drive is located at Children's Hospital L.A. Blood Donor Center in Hollywood, CA. Parking will be available below the hospital structure and all donors will receive free parking validation. Address: 4650 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027
